House Rules & Policy
- Maximum Stay and Lodging Restrictions
California Residents: To stay true to our international values, all California residents are subject to screening prior to check-in and are limited to a maximum stay of 28 days within any six-month period.
All Other Guests: Non-California residents may stay for a maximum of 28 days within any 60-day period.
San Francisco Residents: Individuals who reside within 25 miles of the San Francisco city limits are not eligible to stay at Chapter San Francisco.
All policies are subject to change without prior notice.
TAXES & FEESCity (TOT) Tax: 14% per person per night - TID/MED/Tourism Tax: 2.52% per person per night
- Total Taxes and Fees are 16.52%
(Taxes not included in quoted rates.)
EXTENSIONS
Extensions must be requested before 10:00 AM through reception or your booking platform. Same bed extensions are subject to availability and are not guaranteed. Separate bookings may require new access codes and re-check-in.
GUARANTEE POLICY
All reservations must be secured with a credit or debit card at the time of booking. Chapter Hostels offers same-day price matching with valid proof of the same room type and dates.
Lodging & Age Restrictions Chapter San Francisco does not accept bookings from individuals under 18 unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The following policies apply: Guests Under 18 (Accompanied)Guests under the age of 18 may only stay when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.- Accompanied minors must stay in the same room as their parent or guardian.
- The room must be a private room; shared dormitory rooms are not permitted for minors.
- Unaccompanied Guests Under 18 (Group Stays)Unaccompanied minors are not permitted to stay in shared rooms unless part of an organized group that has exclusively booked the entire shared room.
- The group leader is required to submit all necessary documentation to Chapter San Francisco prior to arrival.
- Non-ComplianceFailure to adhere to these policies will result in automatic cancellation of the booking with no refund.
- Guests who do not meet these requirements will not be allowed to check in.
- PARKING & TRANSPORTATIONParking: City Street parking only. Chapter San Francisco is not responsible for towing or city-issued tickets. Please read signage carefully.
- Rideshare: Uber/Lyft or Waymo or Taxi are available
- Public Transit: BART and Muni bus services available at sfmta.com and bart.gov.
- Clipper Cards: Available for purchase on-site for a fee.
- PET POLICYPets: Not permitted.
- Service Animals: Allowed only in ADA-compliant private rooms.
- Service animals are not allowed in shared dorm rooms.

* Refund requests must be submitted via email to reservations@chaptersanfrancisco.com or the booking platform used. Please include your booking confirmation number. ·
* Approved refunds will be processed within 7–14 business days.
Booking Fees : Any third-party booking fees are non-refundable.
Force Majeure (Act of God) Clause
Neither the property (the “Chapter San Francisco”) nor the Guest shall be held liable or responsible for any failure or delay in the performance of their obligations under this Agreement (including reservation fulfillment or payment) to the extent that such failure or delay is caused by or results from events beyond the reasonable control of either party. Such events include, but are not limited to: Acts of God, natural disasters (including earthquake, flood, fire, hurricane, or storm), war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, governmental restrictions, embargoes, transportation interruptions, utility failures, or epidemics, pandemics, or public health emergencies declared by any governmental or health authority. In such cases:“Chapter San Francisco” reserves the right to cancel, modify, or postpone reservations without liability. - Guests may be entitled to reschedule their stay or receive a credit or partial refund, at the property’s discretion and based on the circumstances at the time.
- Refunds will not be guaranteed for non-refundable bookings unless required by applicable law or regulation.
This clause shall not excuse or delay payment for services already rendered before the Force Majeure event occurred.
Use of Personal Information
By making a reservation or checking in at Chapter San Francisco, guests consent to the collection, use, and storage of their personal information for purposes related to their stay. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Reservation Management: Processing bookings, cancellations, modifications, and communications regarding your stay.
• Check-In & Identity Verification: Verifying identity as required by local regulations, ensuring guest safety, and complying with applicable laws.
• Operational & Security Purposes: Maintaining security, preventing fraud, and ensuring the proper operation of hostel services.
• Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Providing information when required by law enforcement or regulatory authorities.
Data Protection
Chapter San Francisco will not sell or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Personal data is stored securely and retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill legal or operational requirements.
Guest Rights: Guests may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, subject to legal obligations and legitimate business requirements.
ADA ACCESSIBLE ROOMS
Chapter San Francisco is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible environment for all guests in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable California accessibility laws. We offer a limited number of ADA-accessible rooms designed for guests with disabilities. These rooms include accessible features such as roll-in showers, grab bars, lowered fixtures, and wheelchair-accessible routes. Guests who require an accessible room or specific accommodation are encouraged to contact us directly prior to arrival to confirm availability and ensure we can meet their needs. Accessible rooms are subject to availability at the time of booking, and every effort will be made to accommodate all requests. If you have any questions about our accessibility features or need assistance before your stay, please contact the property directly.
Standard Severability Clause
If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Third-Party Rights Clause
This Agreement is intended solely for the benefit of the parties hereto. Nothing in this Agreement shall be construed to give any third party any legal or equitable right, remedy, or claim under or in respect of this Agreement.

CANCELLATION POLICIES
We understand that plan changes. Here’s how to manage your booking:
Standard Rate reservations may be cancelled up to 5 days (120 hours) prior to arrival.
Non-Refundable rates are special prepaid discounted rates. Modifications or cancellations are not permitted after 24 hours from the time of booking. No refunds will be issued under any circumstances, including no-shows.
For cancellations or modifications, please refer to your original booking platform and send us a message for coordination.
- Refund eligibility depends on the cancellation type selected at the time of booking.
- No-shows automatically forfeit the reservation. The Full amount (100%) will be charged, and the bed will be released the following day.
- For delayed or late arrivals, please contact frontdesk@chaptersanfrancisco.com in advance to coordinate with our staff.
